When taking care of yourself, it is important to not forget your skin. Creating a skincare routine specific to your skins needs while taking into consideration the seasons and what you expose yourself to is vital.
The key to implementing a skincare routine that works for you, is to get to know your skin. Determine what types of products work best for your skin type. Are you oily? Dry? Acne prone? Normal? Next, don’t be afraid to try new products. Your skin and chemical makeup change over time, so your skin care routine should too. One of the reasons I love Birchbox, is the plethora of samples I have accumulated. Whether I’m about to travel, have run out of a product, or have been interested in trying something new without committing to a full size, samples are the best way to go. They allow me an easy way to broaden my horizons to products I may not have heard of or considered using. Thirdly, don’t be complacent with your current routine. The elements and seasons can take a toll on your skin. Work around the negative side effects of each so that you are always putting your best face forward. This also applies to your makeup. You may want to consider using various shades depending on how much sun your skin has seen recently. I tend to go one shade lighter in the winter, and then return to my “norm” once mid-spring hits.
While I do dabble with other products, these are the products I have used consistently over the last few years as well as ones that I have recently fallen in love with.
Balance ME Congested Skin serum
Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting cream
Olay Age Defying Wrinkle moisturizer
L’Oreal Detox & Brightening clay mask
After all is said and done, drinking LOTS of water, getting plenty of rest, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle are the best things you can do for your skin.
