A Touch of Halloween

Earlier I posted the fall table decor that I did in our dining room of heirloom pumpkins and fresh greenery. With the 1st of October, I brought out a handful of Halloween decorations and decorated our kitchen.

Last year, I purchased this burlap “Boo” banner at Target in their AMAZING $1 section. I hung it up over our bar, and partnered it with a black and white thick stripe pitcher that I also found in the $1 section. With the dried hydrangea and pumpkin candle, our bar has just a touch of spookiness.

I really like the look of glass skulls. I think that they add a unique sense of design to Halloween decor, as well as blend in with your daily decorations – almost making a more polished and refined version of the usual ghosts and goblins. I like to sit my glass skull with “mad scientist” sort of vases and jars. The skull votive candle holder was purchased at Home Goods several years ago, and the glass jars range from old olive oil bottles, small bud vases, and again the ever-so wonderful Target $1 section. The old fashioned cheese cloth table runner was also a Target purchase last year. I topped off the vases with a pale pink/orange berry, as I felt that traditional flowers would not do the centerpiece as much justice as a more unique flower.
